StarCraft 2 Campaign Credit Glitch

This is to help people take the best advantage of the credit glitch that allows you to get every upgrade and mercenary in the game.

This is only doable once you have obtained 25 research points for both zerg and protoss. I'm not sure what the earliest possible mission is that you obtain this but once you do you can get every upgrade right there.

If you go back to an earlier mission that you can get research points on "even if you've already gotten them" you can get them again and trade them in at the research console for credits.

I've found that the fastest level with the most research points is the protoss level "A Sinister Turn". I am able to complete this level in about 5 minutes. After each 5 minute run you will obtain 250,000 credits from the research console. Do this as many number of times it takes you to get as many upgrades as you want.

This no longer works, they fixed it in the last patch. I just tried it.

I haven't patched yet, so this is still working for me. I'm curious though, how are you getting 250k credits? When it went through the whole selling research for credits bit, it said 10k per credit. What has me more curious however, is that I get 30k for 1 set (not sure if it was Zerg or 'toss) and 40k for the other set. 70k does not make 250k.

I'm assuming you're playing it on Casual? On "normal" there are 2 cannon's that rip the temp's apart and uncloak them.

Basically whats happening is that it's not saving the flag that is attached to the research points your converting. It's not re-giving you the points, it's re-rewarding you the exact same amount as the last point to credit conversion you did.

Example: I complete a new mission and recieve 3 points, 30k credits. I go back and repeat a past level, visit the console, it gives me 30k again even if I earned 1 point or 5 points. I save up 6 missions worth to get a combined turn in of 20 points, it gives me 200k credits, I repeat an old mission, and it gives me 200k again when I visit the console.

It's because someone was sloppy when they coded the portion related to saving your campaign rewards. It updates the points you've cashed in, spent, and converted once you start a new mission. Until you start the new mission or they add additional update/save triggers to buying upgrades/converting points it will continue to work. Odds are likely though that someone at blizzard will see this page and more importantly this post and it will make patching it much easier. Good thing I already have my saved campaign with everything and all research options still open. :)

Just did it 5 minutes ago 6 times in a row, and I'm on a freshly updated and most current patch.

As a foot note, the glitch is a repeated reward of how ever much you got on the last point/credit conversion that you earned from a new mission.

Say I just finished a mission that has 2 protoss and 4 zerg points in it, and all 6 get converted to credits. If I go repeat any past level at all then go visit the research console after the replay, it will reward me once again for that exact same 2 protoss and 4 zerg regardless of what happened in my replay mission.

On another note, if your last "new" mission you completed was the specter/ghost mission, there is no research points on it, and this trick would not work since it's just repeatedly rewarding the last new research points you earned.

Try with different missions and got different result, making me think it's not entirely related to the last mission you did.

I tried piercing the shroud, on casual and got 70k for 1st, 40k on 2nd tech.

Most funny was doing the first mission (Liberation Day) on casual, in 3 minutes flat, and got 140k for the 1st, and 110k for the 2nd...

So, as far as I could tell, it's not really tied to the last mission. The last mission I did was the one to get the last artifact piece. I then went to the archive and tried the 2 missions mentionned above.

Is this still possible? I have heard rumours that blizzard changed this in a recent patch.

I have tried it with a few different missions now and do not seem to get any more research points to spend on credits - which leaves the armoury upgrades impossible to do!! (unless i do it again but without buying the merc contracts i guess).

Can anyone tell me if this still works after the patch a couple of days ago? I had to do the campaign all over again because of that patch and i had 5 missions in brutal everything else in hard with every single upgrade because of this glitch. When i tried doing it in my new campaign it wont work now?

Just tried it and it didn't seem to work, not sure if I was doing it wrongly but I'm afraid that it has got fixed.

I've got 25/25 and replay mission 1 and the first protoss mission on normal, none of them gives me any credit.

If your game got patched with 1.1 or higher this trick will not reward you with the credits.

For those of you that may come across this blog after picking up SC2 too late to make use of the glitch...it is outdated, yes, but the glitch still works. You just need play the game without any patches from Blizzard. Basically, crack the game (google "starcraft 2 crack) and play the campaign up to Char (the crack will allow you play offline and never having to connect to BNET). This has to be done with a crack version prior to "1.1". Once cracked, create a save file of your game while on the BRIDGE (a mission save will not tansfer from different versions), and this weill be used to load into the online patched version when you are ready.

This glitch basically doesnt reset the total research earned after replaying a mission. Once you reach 25 research on BOTH factions, every point of research earned after will accumulate and can reward you with 10k credits after replaying a mission. So getting 3 zerg from one mission (after getting 25/25) will award you with 30k credits. Repeating any mission (assuming you dont get anymore NEW research) will award you with 30k credits after each replay. Any new credit will get added to the original 3 points. So if you reach 25/25, every time you visit the research console, you will get the accumulated value (in credits) of every NEW research point you get, up to the CHAR mission. Remember, its best to do the Protoss mission as soon as they become available, since they award more research and you can have more abilities opened up for the later missions. Once I finished every mission prior to CHAR, I can replay the "Liberation Day" on Casual (2:25) and get 280k credits. (ie: approx 130k per minute)
